Business Information Systems (BIS) is responsible for establishing and governing Company standards for information technology (IT) processes, systems and services in BHP Billiton.  The core accountabilities include the development of long term IT strategy and roadmap, the delivery of Company-wide IT systems and services as well as the delivery of IT systems and services to Functions.

We are currently seeking a Lead Engineer to act as the single point of contact for all engineering blueprint design changes across Infrastructure and Cloud systems.  The position ensures any necessary changes are based on approved business reasons that do not impact on operational stability and are in line with applicable BHP Billiton standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manage the successful implementation for all changes related to on premise Server, Storage, data centre Infrastructure and Cloud based IaaS/PaaS without impacting the reliability and availability of the service

• Serve as the single point of accountability for the design and technical Governance of Infrastructure and Cloud related projects change requests and adherence to their committed design timeline and quality

• Single point accountability for the ownership and ongoing maintenance of all Blueprints within the assigned Infrastructure and Cloud Services

• Ensure all proposed Infrastructure and Cloud changes follow GBIS process, standards, GLD's, CAB approvals and are SOX compliant

• Work collaboratively with the VP A&I and Asset A&I Managers to understand requirements and ensure they are appropriately translated to solutions that fulfil those business requirement

• Responsible for the technical roadmap of brownfield infrastructure and cloud services

• Create a culture of collaboration and partnership with the VP A&I and Asset A&I Managers network to drive completion of design and support of the delivery of the change – and manage scope control, cross functional engagement and in line with the GBIS strategy.

• Use KPIs, SPIs, standardized progress reporting etc. to achieve results, without day to day management of resources.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role we are looking for significant demonstrated experience in Wintel, Hyper V, VMWare and excellent technology change experience.  You will also have experience of IAAS offerings from market leaders including exposure to on premise datacentre migrations into IaaS, PaaS environments.

Critical to this role, you will be an analytical thinker with demonstrated experience in developing effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.  You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment.
