Paul Haynes	Or maybe it's that EMC contact us when we have a drive failure (some times not). Either way when a drive fails an engineer arrives on-site overnight a replaces it (the first time we find out is when the drive has been replaced and a VT ticket has been passed us).

Ashok Kumar Reddy Moori	over nights how can EMC engineer will repl the drive without inform us ?

Paul Haynes	This is normally what happens, however as you can see by the VT system (do you have access to our vt's) it appears that a number of drives have failed but not been comunicated to EMC, they are coming in today to investigate all symm (sounds fun).

Paul Haynes	we don't need to know. when the engineer turns up he gives the EMC number, is escorted by DCSM to replace the drive. the failed drive is then kept on-site and returned/destroyed as required later on.
